About Eva
I once stumbled upon the quote, "where you found happiness as a child is where you will find happiness as an adult." This certainly holds true for me. Growing up on a farm in the Dominican Republic, the fragrance of fruit trees, vegetable gardens, native flowering plants and beautiful rivers helped shaped my love for gardening and the outdoors.
I am thrilled that now, after spending over 20 years working for corporate America as a professional real estate accountant, I am once again out in the garden engaging with the soil, and remembering who I am.
I have years of horticultural experience in the field of fine gardening and maintenance. I hold a Certificate in Gardening from the New York Botanical Garden. Additionally, I am pursuing a second certificate in Horticulture: Sustainable Garden Design. At NYBG, I work with regional experts and other individuals who share my passion for gardening and work with accepted practices in horticulture.
My approach to gardening includes the use of hand-picked plant materials based upon shape, size, texture, and color. I like to find exceptional foliage plants to mix and match with flowers and ornamental grasses. Foliage provides textural depth and season-extending color that is appealing throughout the year.
I work in collaboration with customers, from initial consultations to the maintenance and upkeep of the new or renovated landscapes. In addition, I offer landscape consulting services to provide answers to your gardening questions: When to prune? How to transplant? How to improve your soil? Which plants should I buy? Which garden style should I follow? I have answers!
